One Trident 2E (G-AVFG) was held back at Heathrow and use by British Airways for various training purposes between 1985 and 1990. It was fully painted in the Landor scheme. It was then transferred to the Heathrow fire department, and used as a fire training instructional airframe until March 2000. It was dismantled, and moved by road to Manchester, and used for the same purpose as 'G-SMOKE' until it was broken up in May 2013.

There was also a 3B (G-AWZK) held by BA for similar purposes, also painted in the full landor scheme. There are photos of the pair parked side by side in front of one of the hangars. In 2001 it was also dismantled, moved by road to Manchester, and reassembled. It was repainted in BEA 'Speedjack' colours, where it remains on display.
