1:144 N.A. P-51D Mustang "Lou IV"

N51TK / 44-63350 operated with 15th Air Force in WWII. In 2006, owned by John McKittrick, it was painted to commemorate 44-13410 "Lou IV", flown by Colonel Thomas J J Christian in USAAF service. It crashed in 2007, fatally injuring its owner. It is apparently undergoing rebuild. This decal depicts the aircraft as it appeared at Gathering of Mustangs in 1999.

Built as 55-75007 for the USAAF. Registered as N3451D in 1966, and converted by Cavalier Corporation to their "executive" configuration. Painted in these marking by Paul Poberezny, President of the EAA Foundation. Now on static display at Oshkosh.

N1451D flew as "Saturday Night Special" with a highly polished finish between 1995 and 2003. It was destroyed in a fatal accident in 2014.

1:24 N.A. P-51A Mustang "Polar Bear"

|
Built as 43-6006, this P-51A was powered by an Allison engine. It was delivered to the USAAF in 1943. It crashed in 1944 in Alaska. The wreckage was recovered in 1977, and after an 8 year restoration (using some P-51D components), flew again on July 3rd 1985. Painted as 36006 "Polar Bear" and registered N51Z, it went on to race at Reno in 2005 as #25. It appeared at Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in 2007 in these markings. It has since been rebuilt as a stock P-51A.

N2251D was flown by R.A. "Bob" Hoover with North American Aviation and later North American Rockwell titles. It was badly damaged in August 1970, but rebuilt using parts from another Mustang.

N55JL / 44-84615 was owned by Jimmy Leeward when it was displayed at the Gathering of Mustangs in 1999 named “Betty Boop” . It usually flies as "Cloud Dancer"….

N7722C / N151AM / 44-73420 Following its most recent restoration completed in 2006, this aircraft has been painted in this basic USAAF scheme marked 473420, and appeared as such at Gathering of Mustangs in 2007. It has occasionally worn the names "Chooch II" and "Dorrie H", though neither for extended periods.
